Kericho High School
Education for Life
Kericho High School opened its doors on 15th June 1959 as one of the D.E.B. pioneered schools. It could not open in January 1959 due to lack of facilities. It begun with 11 boys and two teachers; Mr. John Bowles, the first Head teacher and Mr. Wesley Rono the first African teacher in the school.
Over 58 years since inception, tremendous changes have taken place in the school. It remained a single stream in the sixties and two stream in the seventies. ‘A’ levels started in 1972. The student population has grown from 11 in 1959, 120 in the sixties 400 in the seventies and currently stands at 1,870.
